Here Comes The Summer
Weird weather again. Freezing last week, mid teens today. Weather plugin in currently reading 16c for Hoylake. Went out in 2 tops not realising just how warm it was and really noticed it down the beach between Red Rocks and West Kirby (Riversdale Rd circuit today).
Come up with todays post title before remembering that this band came up with the very same:
Sod any copyright issues hey!
Not going too bad, felt a little heavy legged on the damp sand.

Missed The Sunshine
Went out late this afternoon today by which time the glorious sunshine that had been around all day had gone. Bit cool too. Wind had lost its puff at last.
Did my Riversdale Rd circuit though truncated by say 500m because I walked my daughter round to dancing first. Battery went flat on my Navman so I’m not sure of actual distance. Plodded my way round admiring the clear views of Hilbre Island and the North Wales coast. Did the beach on the outward leg today.

Tad Windy That
Not quite as windy as yesterday but another blustery day today in Hoylake. Actually, as the wind was more northerly than the normal north westerly it wasn’t quite as bad as it can be on Hoylake prom. Few fences blown out in various front gardens though.
Bit of faffing today ‘cos the zip went on my top after a couple of minutes (couldnt fix it en-route) and I was running round in a cape when I didn’t keep tight hold of it. Didn’t go far. Just did my Red Rocks circuit today, which was enough in the wind.

A Bit More
Did my Marine Lake loop today. Picked the wrong time of day to go ‘cos the sunshine had gone and it had turned cool. Fortunately the rain held off until I literally arrived back at home. Still slowish but hey ho, on the way up I suppose. Proper headphones on my Sony mp3 were stacks better than the cheapo pair I bought from Tesco. No running tomorrow - checking my broadbeans.

Riversdale Loop Again
Thought I’d go for my hattrick on my Riversdale Rd loop. Windier than it looked today and I took the probably easier route of doing the beach on the outward leg.
Not going too bad - a shade under 13kph ave.

Not That Nice
Running around Hoylake and West Kirby on a cold day when it’s sleeting. Nope, not the nicest of days today but no wind so that was nice.
Did the Riversdale Road (West Kirby way) circuit again. Was going okay though lost a bit of time ‘cos I got a corking stitch that brought me down to walking pace for a few seconds on Meols Drive.

Feeling Off Today
Did my Riversdale Road circuit again today (West Kirby way first) but just didn’t feel right today. In fact on a couple of occasions I slowed to walking pace because I was feeling ropey with my stomach not feeling right. Got round and now feel a tad better after some late lunch.
Lovely bright day for it. Hardly any wind at all. Cold though, of course. Most of the icy/slightly snowy stuff had melted with only a few patches of slippy icy stuff remaining around Kings Gap. An hour at the plot tomorrow I think - though it’ll be too cold for digging in the soil (my book says don’t dig your soil if its frosty.

Raw
After the lull comes raw. Why? Because running over 5km along the embankment toward New Brighton on a cold day into a strong headwind feels quite raw. Unusually the wind direction was the opposite to the norm and was blowing from Liverpool to Wales, making it bloody hard on the outward leg. 3 tops, running bottoms, beanie and gloves kept a lot of the cold out - I feel the cold !
So, just ran it on the outward leg, bit pointless really trying to fight it. So, eventually got to the sandstone wall in a second or two under 27 mins (11.3 kph approx). Turned and immediately felt the benefit of the wind. Came back about 5 mins faster (though it’s a bit shorter) in 13.36 kph average. But you can never seem to make up the time lost.

Lull
Well it was still windy this morning but by midday the wind was in retreat and there was a noticeable lull so I went out for an hour. Did my wirral way loop but did the wirral way last this time. Distance came in at 13.01 again so from now on I think I’ll have this circuit 13km.
Was going okay to start with but then at 30 min mark started to feel it a bit and for the last leg home along the prom I was making hard work of it. Enjoyed a sit on our garden wall when I got home. And the biggest I could find homemade flapjack recouped a few (okay, a lot) of those spend kcals.
Lull is over. It’s blowing a gale again (20:25). Pub calling.

Running In Hoylake Today?
Nope!
Way to windy today and I just didn’t fancy running up Hoylake Promenade into a full-on headwind. I walked back along the prom (tail wind) this morning after getting the paper and I was literally being blown along. Every road corner is covered in a blanket of drifted sand too.
Our house (roof) is okay so far (fingers crossed) but some neighbours have lost tiles, ridge tiles and fence panels. Glass windows have gone in a couple of local shops apparently.
With no running on the agenda I thought about going down to the allotment (ooh look, now on it’s own domain name from names.co.uk - they let you change the cname DNS setting - now that blogger supports custom domains) for a second day but decided against it. I was chatting to a fellow allotmenteer last Sunday and she was saying that it’s not that uncommon for shed roofs to get blown around the site on really windy days! So sod that - stayed in for tea and cake.
