March 4th, 2008 — meols
A friend had mentioned a footpath in Meols (that I’ll photo for my Meols blog at some point) that I’ve never, ever been along. So I ran down to it (on the edge of Mannington Close/Bertram Drive), crossed over the railway line and then promptly got soaking feet ‘cos a ditch had flooded the path.
Turned back ‘cos it way too wet and just ended up doing a short run around Meols. One of those days when I just wasn’t into it.
September 18th, 2007 — meols, running
I started out with the intention of running the 10k course again, motivated by the (incorrect) assumption that it didn’t look that windy.
Trotted around to the start and headed off. As there was a decent wind blowing again I started off quite fast. The 1km marker was still in place from Sunday and I passed that in 4.04 and went on to hit the mile mark in about 6.15. Then I started to feel it and talked myself into not fancying running back for 3 miles into that headwind again. So mind beat matter and I turned off with the intention down the bridal path and back passed the caravan park.
Just at the top of the path I spotted three Jack Russel dogs, presumably from the adjacent small holding. They saw me too. One of them fancied it’s chances and started to run at me. As I didn’t fancy mine, I turned and sprinted and shouted at it to go away. So, back to Meols along the embankment and up Guffitts Rake, Mumfords Lane and home. About 6km in total I guess.

July 18th, 2007 — draycott double, hoylake, meols, running
Met up with the most improving Meols runner this lunchtime for our first session together. I’ve called this post the Draycott Double because I ended up running both of Chris’s current circuits - his prom circuit and his water works circuit.
Starting at the apex of the bowling green I ran to met Chris at his house (2.42km, double it to give 4.84km for the prom circuit). Then we did his Water Works circuit (4.74 km in 23.24 = 12.15 kph). Then we had a chat in the sun in his garden and then I ran back home again.
Of course I left my watch running - so it’s been going for over 8 hours now, killing the battery no doubt. Stats are cocked then!

June 4th, 2007 — burbo camp, meols, running
Occured to me today that when I get down on our prom I nearly always turn left, face Wales and carry on running. The only time I face and run toward Leasowe Lighthouse and Liverpool is when I either do the 10k route or my long run to New Brighton (where the SeaSide finishes - remember them?).
So today for a change I ran my little used Burbo Camp route. Actually this static caravan park hasn’t been officially called The Burbo for years, but it’s what I know it as. Tweaked it slightly ‘cos in the past I’ve run along Park Road to home but today I went back up Bennetts Lane and along the prom again to home. Not a bad little circuit though normally the prom-to-home section will be into a head wind - today, unusally, was the exact reverse .
