Along The Boardwalk
..down by the sea! No sun beating down though.
Riversdale Road circuit again today only going along the boardwalk on the beach from West Kirby to Red Rocks. Not going great at the moment, which is rather disappointing considering I’ve been doing a bit recently. Might give it a miss tomorrow and then do some hill reps on Saturday.
On the plus side Sarah and her two young assistants have baked a coconut cake today – I’ll be fulfilling my role as chief cake taster later !
Grotty
Went out late afternoon. Totally grotty afternoon it was too. Cold, windy, wet and generally not very appealing.
Did Red Rocks loop with an equally grotty performance.
Yep, It Is Cold
I tend to feel the cold, so that’s what’s happening at the moment. Long pants weather for sure!
Riversdale Rd circuit today as I’ve not done it for a while and I’m feeling rebellious enough to stick two fingers up to the 10km training schedule. Didn’t go out yesterday ‘cos we took the girls to see the fair and lights at Blackpool – suffice it to say I’m not Blackpool’s biggest fan.
Started off feeling good today but drifted back and finished in a time that I wasn’t happy with.
West Kirby To Parkgate On Wirral Way
Link to map here. Purely for future reference. 11.65 km / 7.23 miles
I Very, Very, Nearly…
…fell in Marine Lake this morning !
Out for a steady run this (early’ish) morning and decided to sod the hill reps and instead enjoy the view along the beach up to West Kirby. Decided to run around Marine Lake even though though the tide was lapping against the wall a bit. Wasn’t a problem at all until about half way around the wall when the water was lapping over the footpath.
Running along the inside edge to avoid most of it (successfully) when a few bigger waves arrived. So in an attempt to avoid getting totally wet feet I straddled a patch of water only to land clumsily on a bit of sea weed. Kind of slipped a bit and so very nearly fell into the lake …somehow managed to avoid going for a dip by sticking my right arm out and leaning hopefully. Must have looked like a right plonker ! Can’t really grumble at just totally sodden footwear. Ran home chuckling to myself.
Just inside an hours steady trot at 59.29
Don’t know this fell running chap, but if he blogs about the Original Mountain Marathon it’ll be interesting to get a competitors view of the weekend’s events.
Trot With Graham
Out with Graham this afternoon for a trot. Got caught again at the level crossing doing the Orrysdale Rd circuit.
Got blown home along the prom. Spotted some land yachters out on the sand bank …they’ll be hitting a decent speed!
Supposed to be doing hilly stuff tomorrow. However, we’re off to Chatsworth for a grand day out – so I’ll have a day off and sort of do a few miles with a some hilly stuff mixed in on Sunday morning. Or I wont
Trot With Mike
Met up with Mike today for a trot around Stretton. Looked like it was about to totally pour down before we set off but other than a bit of drizzle it fortunately held off. Windy of course !
Somewhere in the region of 4.7km
Wirral Way Today
Didn’t spot any tacks today along the Wirral Way. I say that ‘cos it appears that person(s) unknown have been laying carpet tacks on the Wirral Way and cyclists have been getting punctures. I’d read about this a week or so ago on a locals cycling blog and then today it was mentioned in our local paper.
Tired again today after yesterdays effort. Stayed away from the prom again – it’s not nice in to a strong head wind with added sand. Another 60 mins under my belt anyways.
Hopefully meeting up with Mike tomorrow for a sociable trot.
45 Mixed Minutes
On a breezy old day I did about 45 minutes including 10 pacier stints at around 1.15 / 1.30 mins. The change in pace really takes it out of me.
Weather is turning …getting cooler. It’s nearly always windy so I’ll ignore that.
Bit Of A Struggle
Was aiming to do around 80-90 mins this morning but only managed 60. Partly tired after yesterday afternoon’s hill reps and also ‘cos I had a bit of an upset stomach. From the off it felt hard going and I just didn’t get into it really. Went along West Kirby prom, up the steep in parts Village Road, down Grange Hill and back home through Hoylake. Passed a bloke running in the opposite direction on Meols Drive …seen him before and he’s a cheerful chap who always lets on.
On the cake front we’ve got some of Sarah’s calorie enriched, chocolate biscuit slice on the go. Might have a bash at making something myself this week! I find that a big slice of fruit cake always goes well with a mug of tea
