Seaside Run Obtains Sponsorship
I’m a little surprised that this hasn’t been a regular thing, but an email today from Seaside Runs organiser Roy Fisher informs that the events are to be sponsored this year.
Wirral and Liverpool based Joints and Points healthcare clinics are providing prizes including £20 vouchers for healthcare services at their clinics to the race winners and three other random runners - I suspect I’ve got much more chance with a random prize! They will also be attending some races with a team to offer post-race massage and other goodies apparently.
Note to self: still haven’t managed to beat 20 minutes for this race .
Back Out After Nearly A Week
Back in my trainers today after a near week long break for various reasons. Nice and mild but a deceptive breeze about. Various aches and pains from my joints for some reason, though possibly largely due to barrowing very heavy flags to and around the now shed adorned allotment.
Riversdale Road circuit today in a sluggish 40.nn - not too impressive.
Out With Mike
Bit of a breezy day in Stretton as I met up with Mike for our monthly run.
Nice steady run around our Park Loop in a comfortable pace.
Red Rocks - Half Decent Time
Although I felt fairly uncomfortable all the way round I ended up doing a half decent pace on my Red Rocks circuit. Bit on the cool side mind.
Duration:25.11 I think it was
Frosty. Graham
Met up with Graham for a 9.30 am Sunday morning start. Frosty morning though that didn’t deter Graham from wearing shorts!
Graham wasn’t feeling 100% and I was stiff as a board having been digging in the soil for a couple of hours on Saturday afternoon.
Along the prom up to Kings Gap, Red Rocks and then along the beach to West Kirby. Turned off at Lang Lane and then Cinder Path home.
Born Slippy
I suspect that I was born with slippy ears ! Yes, I know that sounds complete nonsense but why else would my earphones keep falling out? Well, yes the phones could just be the wrong size I suppose. I should have got a pair of wrap around your ears phones for my recent birthday …next treat I guess. Confession time …I do get itchy earholes for some reason. Most strange.
Fitting in running has been awkward recently what with visiting trips to the hospital to see my poorly Dad, attempting to do stuff down the allotment and faffing around with half-finished websites covering such areas as chef uniforms. Hopefully my Dad will get back to full strength anytime soon and be back home to annoy my Mum.
Having been distracted of late I haven’t given a thought to the Liverpool Half - so that means I haven’t given any thought to clocking a few miles in either. Hey ho - there’s always other races and there’s a local series of 10k’ers over various terrain that I fancy having a bash at.
And so todays effort. Dancing drop-off again and another shortened Riversdale Rd circuit. Not as sunny as last weeks bash but not too bad at all. Faster than last week by over a minute
Start:16:35
Duration:37.19
Distance:7.88 km
Ave speed:12.67 kph
Runners In The Mist
Well okay, it wasn’t that misty, just a bit. Went out with Graham at 9.30 this morning and we did the Cinder Path plus the beach. Steady to start but not too shabby toward the end.
Shock, horror …no wind.
Red Rocks This Afternoon
Got back from visiting at the hospital and in need of some fresh air so a trot down to Red Rocks was in order. Not quite as nice weather wise as the previous afternoon but not too bad.
Did it in a shade under 26. Must update my stats soon.
Bloody Lovely
Dropped Kylie off at dancing and then did my Riversdale Rd circuit, but starting by the end of the bowling green.
Lovely late afternoon, mild, hardly any wind (how strange!) and a corking sunset looking over to North Wales. Got down onto the beach and with the sun to the left of Little Eye (the titchy island next to Hilbre) setting on the horizon it was really great to run in.
Still not happy with my form though.
Red Rocks Today
Didn’t think I’d get the chance to get out so a 30 minute window was a nice opportunity to sneak out. Red Rocks and back in a shade over 26mins which aint great but will suffice. Nowhere near as windy as the later half of last week but still breezy of course.
Could be a difficult week to find the time this week so we’ll see how it pans out.
Must update my stats …but not now.
