Running Outside

Pounding the streets of Hoylake and beyond.

Between 9-10miles

Complete technical failures today. Navman started bleeping at me wildly within a couple of minutes so I switched it off. Then at 1hour 13:11 the Polar froze …several hours later it still shows that and I can’t switch it off.

Anyway, todays long run is a bit of a variant on my old Caldy circuit. Up to West Kirby, then along the Wirral Way to Calday. Follow the road up to Caldy Church then down to the roundabout. Up the (steep) hill, along Column Rd and then drop down into West Kirby. Down Dee Lane, along the beach to Red Rocks and home.

Set off before 10.00 so par for the course I was stiff as a board. Strong wind up Hoylake prom saw me a good 45 secs down on my usual split at Kings Gap. Kept it steady all the way round, going for distance rather than pace. Guess at about 1hr 22 or 23 for the run.

Of course, I can’t get the stats for me other 2 runs of this week now either.

    Oh no! Complete technical breakdown!

My Polar did exactly the same thing on 29th January 2007:

All that was required was a new battery. No data was lost.

…and it co-incides with bro-in-law and family popping in ….from Australia.

Talking of longer runs, there was chatter of there being a Liverpool Marathon next year (culture capital etc) …now if that does get off the ground, well.

Well that’s a pretty good reason I guess. I think I might break if I try a road marathon!
