10 On The Nail
Did 10k today.
Start on the prom by the bottom of Hoyle Road. Face New Brighton and simply keep going straight until you reach the sandstone turret by Leasowe Golf Club (you pass it on the seaside run). Touch the wall. Turn around. Run back. Stop at the little entrance in the middle of the bowling green site.
Now with the wind being out in force it was fast on the outward and bloody hard on the return. Did the first 1.6 km in 6.20 approx (15.3 kph) ! Got to the wall in 22:10. I think its 5.1km so thats 13.80 kph. A right old plod all the way home into the strong wind - 4.9km in 24:31 giving 11.99 kph. It was starting to p**s me off toward the end.
Still, not too bad overall. Sore toe tips though.
No running tomorrow - off out for lunch somewhere with Sarah.

Marine Lake
Did my Marine Lake loop circuit today for the first time in ages and I quite enjoyed it despite the strong breeze. Actually, whilst there was a good breeze about it only seemed to hit me along West Kirby prom on the way home.
Enjoyed it today - nice steady pace, music on loud. Legs are stiff though and I guess not helped by doing a good weeding session down on the weediest allotment in Hoylake. No bleeding rain either!
Half decent average speed that - that wind was helpful in parts though, maybe it was more helpful than not.

Morning Run. So I Was Slow.
Out before 9 this morning for a Red Rocks run. As I’ve said before I’m bloody awful first thing -not enough caffeine probably.
Lovely morning for it anyway and it must have been warm ‘cos I was sweating cobs when I got back.

Aiming For 1000
Okay, so far this year I’ve managed to record 60 runs and knock out about 450 km. Now that I guess that is a lot less than last year but then last year I wasn’t growing my own (oh alright, trying to grow…).
So, it seems realistic to set a year-end target of at least 1000 km. Should be do-able, nothing too silly.
Out With Mike
Met up with Mike today for a run - all unplanned !
Nice little circuit and an enjoyable run.

Dry!
Did my Riversdale Rd circuit and didn’t get wet. A rather wet few days but I managed to catch a window.

Only A Bit Wet
Had intended to go out at lunchtime for a longer run but it was raining and to be honest I didn’t fancy getting a soaking today. So I left it until late afternoon - when it was raining!
Bit of a combo run. Ran down to the plot first to water the greenhouse plants and then continued my run down to Red Rocks. Cut it short on the way home to borrow a wooden pallet out of a skip in the Community Centre car park (pallets are useful for making compost bins down on the plot).
Got a bit wet but mustn’t grumble as it hasn’t rained since the last bank holiday.
I’ll update the stats when I find my watch.

Sweat!
Even though I went out late afternoon when the sun wasn’t too strong it was still very warm. I was already hot from doing a weeding session down on the allotment and after a ploddy run to Red Rocks I was sweating buckets.
Not going great today with heavy legs for some reason. Supposed to be cooler for the next few days so I think I’ll do my Wirral Way circuit on Wednesday. Off to the van auctions tomorrow with a mate for a trip out. I’ll be doing a bit of self publicity whilst I’m there too …I’ll be wearing my cardtart.com polo shirt.

A New Running Mate
Joining my very distinguished list of mates in my blog roll is Chris with his brand new running blog.
That makes 4 mates now and one of those is my own allotment blog …I really must get out more!
Chris (another sensible chap who works from home) has dusted off his trainers and after a week or two fine tuning to sharpen up his fast-twitch muscle fibres we’ll be meeting up in Meols (next door to Hoylake) to sprint off in the direction of Leasowe Lighthouse and beyond.
Talking of running I haven’t been out since last Thursday. Was going to try and go out yesterday but ended up spending more time than planned on a search marketing proposal for a potential client. Might try and get one in today …seems hot today though so maybe I’ll do some weeding down on the plot midday and go for a run late afternoon when it should be cooler. Or I could do some work I suppose!
Riverdale Rd Circuit
not too bad I suppose. Warm down on the beach.
