Managed To Sneak Out

Managed to find the time to squeeze a short run in. Lovely evening for it too.

Just a short one today - Beach Road circuit, which is the same as doing Red Rocks only you dont run down the bottom of Stanley Road. Not going too great again, but I’m getting a cold and I had a crap nights sleep. Moan, moan, etc

Distance:4.24 km
Ave speed:13.425 kph (that seems fast to me, think I’ll recheck the distance)

A Run Via Plot 69

As I needed to pop down to my allotment to water the tomatoe plants etc in the greenhouse I decided to combine the plot 69 visit with a run. Actually I could do with multi-tasking more often as I never seem to have enough time to fit things in even though I run our search marketing business from home and have no commute time!

Ran down to the plot. Using my navman for the first time in ages I now know that door to door it’s 1km (well about 10 metres shy - so we’ll call it 1km). Did that in 4.37. Watered the plants and then headed off to Beach Road. You lose a bit of time crossing the railway line but no matter, this’ll never be a circuit for speed running. Up Market Street, down Stanley Road to Beach Road, and then back home as usual.

Going awful. Felt like a lump of lard! Might be getting a cold so I’ll blame that. Grotty weather too - back to two tops and long pants. Resultant ave speed seems high to me. I did pause the watch whilst on the plot though not the navman - but I hardly walked any distance at all. Perhaps the wind down on the prom blew me home? And as I type this not only is it windy it’s pouring down too. Ah! it’s a Bank Holiday.

Out With Mike

Met up with Mike for our irregular monthly run. We ran the Thorn loop which I haven’t run for way over a year so that made for a nice change. With the sun out it was actually quite hot and at the end I was sweating buckets. A steady pace was taken so we kind of managed to chat a little - usually we’re unable to talk until we stop!

Red Rocks Hattrick

Unusually for me, an evening run today. Nice evening too, mild and hardly any wind. Still not going too great, but can’t knock going out for a second day on the run for the first time in ages.

A Drop Of Sunshine

Red Rocks and back again. A bit faster than last time but nowhere near as windy so not happy with the time really. Stopped the watch down on the prom to have a quick chat with my mate Chris who was sensibly riding his bike.

Red Rocks: Slow!

Windy day, slow runner. Really windy infact and consequently it took over 6 mins to get to the bottom of Kings Gap - slowwww!

Riversdale Road - Slowly

Did my Riversdale Rd circuit today - slowly. I’ve lost a fair amount of fitness having only run about twice in more than 3 weeks. Started off okay into the headwind on the prom but evidently lost time elsewhere ‘cos a 40′ for this circuit is slow for me. Nice to be out though.

Slow. But Back Out

Back out today for the first time in about 10 days. Feel like I’ve got over the chicken pox now - even if I don’t look like I have. A windy old afternoon today and I didn’t argue with it. Even so, I wasn’t going well at all and ended up with a really slow time. Still, I’d rather suffer with the running than with the pox.

It’s okay - I’m alive

Top tip: Don’t wait until you’re 40 to catch chicken pox off one of your daughters - it’s really not nice.

On the mend now. Totally covered in those really attractive, scabbed over blisters and look a bit of a mess but feel alright now otherwise. Now need to load up on cakes to top-up my reserves. Really wish I’d caught chicken pox as a kid when it’s usually less severe (like our 2 have now done) ‘cos it was most unpleasant. Haven’t shaved for a week and will have to wait a couple more days yet for the scabs to go a bit. Least I get to see what I look like with a beard (Dad, it’s not a beard ‘cos you don’t look like Father Christmas) - think I’ll try a goatee too for a laugh.

I can smell that concrete down on the prom!
