Bit Further Today
Went out again today for a longer one. I’ve done this extended Caldy circuit just once before I think (might be a couple of times tops) though it came in slightly shorter today. Breezy and cool today and the wind slowed me down on the beach where it wasn’t that nice really. Could feel yesterdays effort in my legs so I was pleased at passing the 6.55 landmark in 31.15 (31.05 last time). Slowed in the latter half and the breeze. Not that chuffed with the final time and average speed which is a little on the slow side for my liking. Still, I did a bit yesterday and I can also improve upon that and I’m happy enough with the distance covered.
Day away from running tomorrow. Weed digging instead I think.

11k
Well nearly, 10.95km today. Not going amazing and felt like I was somewhat ploddy in parts. Bit of a breeze out down on West Kirby front. I ran upto West Kirby, around Marine Lake to the sailing club, back along the prom and then along the sand to Red Rocks and home.

More In The Mood
Went out late on today ‘cos the sun was shining. The wind had eased off but it’s still on the chilly side. Red Rocks again with a bit more purpose today and my mp3 player.

Not In The Mood
Went out today but I just wasn’t in the mood. So I just did Red Rocks and back with the wind unusually behind me on the outward again. Spotted Andy McCluskey of OMD fame in his car down Stanley Road - making a comeback too I read in our local paper.
Although I was fast to the turn I just couldn’t be arsed fighting the wind on the return. Back home for some much needed lunch (possibly the reason for the malaise).
Stats to be added when I find the watch.

Raw
After the lull comes raw. Why? Because running over 5km along the embankment toward New Brighton on a cold day into a strong headwind feels quite raw. Unusually the wind direction was the opposite to the norm and was blowing from Liverpool to Wales, making it bloody hard on the outward leg. 3 tops, running bottoms, beanie and gloves kept a lot of the cold out - I feel the cold !
So, just ran it on the outward leg, bit pointless really trying to fight it. So, eventually got to the sandstone wall in a second or two under 27 mins (11.3 kph approx). Turned and immediately felt the benefit of the wind. Came back about 5 mins faster (though it’s a bit shorter) in 13.36 kph average. But you can never seem to make up the time lost.

Lull
Well it was still windy this morning but by midday the wind was in retreat and there was a noticeable lull so I went out for an hour. Did my wirral way loop but did the wirral way last this time. Distance came in at 13.01 again so from now on I think I’ll have this circuit 13km.
Was going okay to start with but then at 30 min mark started to feel it a bit and for the last leg home along the prom I was making hard work of it. Enjoyed a sit on our garden wall when I got home. And the biggest I could find homemade flapjack recouped a few (okay, a lot) of those spend kcals.
Lull is over. It’s blowing a gale again (20:25). Pub calling.

Running In Hoylake Today?
Nope!
Way to windy today and I just didn’t fancy running up Hoylake Promenade into a full-on headwind. I walked back along the prom (tail wind) this morning after getting the paper and I was literally being blown along. Every road corner is covered in a blanket of drifted sand too.
Our house (roof) is okay so far (fingers crossed) but some neighbours have lost tiles, ridge tiles and fence panels. Glass windows have gone in a couple of local shops apparently.
With no running on the agenda I thought about going down to the allotment (ooh look, now on it’s own domain name from names.co.uk - they let you change the cname DNS setting - now that blogger supports custom domains) for a second day but decided against it. I was chatting to a fellow allotmenteer last Sunday and she was saying that it’s not that uncommon for shed roofs to get blown around the site on really windy days! So sod that - stayed in for tea and cake.
10k Today
Hit the concrete on the embankment down to the sandstone turret at Leasowe (you pass it on the seaside run). 10km there and back with the turn being just over halfway. Fully loaded again with Navman, Polar and Walkman.
Cooler today but not much wind about. Looked like it was going to rain all day. Grey and damp - nowhere beats the UK for it ! Kept my beanie on to keep my ears warm.
Started well enough and knocked out the first mile in 6.45. Finished in 46:46 when I was kind of hoping to do a 45:something. But 12.83 average isn’t too bad for the distance for me. Legs are killing me now though.

Music To My Ears
Went out for a Sunday run today with an added extra - my mp3 player. Had toyed with the idea for sometime and just decided to do it today to see if the tunes would take my mind off any discomfort. Verdict? Not bad. Farted around with the earphones a bit and went to walking pace for a fair few seconds to make a few adjustments.
Anyway, the route? Did the wirral way circuit again doing the wirral way first. Navman recorded a distance of 13.01 this time around. 12.51 last time. Need to do again but 13 sounds more like it. Decent wind around again but mild and nice and bright today.

Wind
As Mike says it was just a little bit windy today for our monthly meet-up. Actually, even though it was very, very windy we could have been affected by it even more than we were.
As is often the case, I motivate Mike enough for him to stick a handful of seconds into me by the time we hit the finish line! Enjoyed the run, despite the weather.
