Tide in, wind out

Did the brickworks circuit today. Would have been nicer along the prom to home if it wasn’t quite so windy. It’s been worse but it was still a decent breeze.

Start time:13:28
7.58km
time:34:50 giving 13.06km/hr

558 Kcal
HRmax=196 (apparently!)/ave=169

Split 1:14:30
Split 2:24:01

Also, used my Polar this morning to do the fitness test thingy. However, because I didn’t bother reading the instructions properly, it didn’t tell me what I was expecting. I thought it told me what my average heart rate was for the test - it doesn’t (or doesn’t seem to anyways).

It gave me a score of 42 - which is “moderate” - not happy with that, “good” would’ve been my expectation. What I was really after was how low my resting heart rate was - but I didn’t look at the Polar whilst lying on the bed. Did spot a figure of 52 at one point - but I’d hope for something in the 40s.

I’ll do it again at some point. Think I was tired this morning anyway after a late night out at the cinema - The Inside Man - good film.

Not today, thanks

No running today - fancied a rest.

Not totally lazy though - I did ride to the dentists on my mountain bike. About a 20min round trip.

Saves using the car - how very green of me.

Actually, I think I’ll be using my bike more - might even give my old Marin Muirwoods (mid ’90s model - a great buy) a spot of attention and use that for pottering around ‘cos my Rift Zone (2000 model - not used enough) has got “I’m expensive, come and steal me” written all over it. And yes, I do use a decent lock.

Seaside Run This Evening

My first seaside run of the season - 4.92km of lung bursting effort. Good to meet up with Mike again - even if he did beat me by 12 seconds !

Beaten by Mike

Dryish day today in Stretton. Met up with my training mate Mike who was going better than me today ‘cos he didn’t do much yesterday (honest) !

Park Loop Extra

HRmax=178/ave=171

As we both had our Polars on its interesting to note that Mike had HRmax=176/ave=166 even though he stuck over a minute in to me.

Need to test what my resting HR is - Mike records a low 42 !

Red Rocks & Back today

Not a bad day at all.

Red Rocks and back. Steady run today.

I noticed that The Royal Liverpool Golf Club is getting ready for The Open - loads of scaffolding gear is being stacked up, presumably for the spectator viewing gantries.

13:18 start time

5.61km
25:52

458Kcal
HRmax=176/ave=168

Nothing today, well no running anyways. A family day out…..took the children swimming in Chester, a pub lunch, a trip to Gordale garden centre to buy some plants and then on to Parkgate for ice-creams.

An early morning Easter Monday run today…left the house at 8.15am after a cup of tea.

Steady run in a decent wind.

Route: Market St, bridge over the railway line ‘cos the level crossing was shut, down the cinder path, down Westbourne Rd, passed West Kirby Sailing Club, the pavement alongside Marine Lake (which was devoid of any wind surfers) down to Riversdale, then Meols Drive, Market St and home.

9.5km-10km approx
